Tamara and I connected by phone way before we ever even met in person! A pandemic love story :) I just had a feeling about her... She was opening a shop in Taos, New Mexico where I have my second home and mutual friends had suggested that we should know one another. Tamara is a FORCE of warmth, laughter and pure love. My kind of woman!! Our friends were right. Taos is a town that has it’s own energy, it either invites you in or kicks you out. After spending time with her and sharing so many friends with her there, I can tell it’s really embraced her. No surprise! And if you happen to find yourself in Taos, and in her shop, you might discover a few hand-picked RA pieces from my archive.
"I mean, opening a new business with your savings right in the middle of a pandemic in a town where you don’t know anyone! It was crazy, but it has worked wonderfully..." Tamara Feldman
RA: I’m curious how you ended up in Taos, why Taos?
TF: I came to Taos in the summer to visit a couple of artist friends who were living here. The space where my shop is now was available and I fell in love with it. I rented it immediately and then had to figure out what to do with it. It was such a fun adventure, even if it was a little daunting. I mean, opening a new business with your savings right in the middle of a pandemic in a town where you don’t know anyone! It was crazy, but it has worked wonderfully and now that the music shows are up and running the community is coming to hang out and it’s exactly what I had envisioned. I’m super proud
RA: What’s lovely about Taos right now, the spring is coming - all the bulbs are popping through the earth, you can really tell that spring is coming. How does it feel to really experience the seasons there?
TF: Living here through the winter was pretty tough. Now you can feel a change in the air. People are happier, you can feel the vibe changing. It’s so exciting and I feel like I really earned all the fun that will come with the warmer weather. I guess that’s the beauty of the seasons. You really appreciate the warmth and the sunshine because you have to work for it.
RA: Has Taos inspired you to write any songs?
TF: Having the music shows in my shop has made me dust off a lot of my old songs I haven’t played in awhile and I am learning covers so it’s more fun for the people there. I honestly haven’t written anything new! I am also busy learning how to run a store ❤️
